International Trade Organisations

As part of the efforts to promote Hong Kong as an international centre of trade, commerce, finance and communications, the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) participates actively in international and regional economic and trade organisations.  The Basic Law provides that HKSAR may on its own, using the name "Hong Kong, China (HKC)", maintain and develop relations and conclude and implement agreements with relevant international organisations in the economic and trade fields among others.  The Trade and Industry Department coordinates HKSAR's participation in the World Trade Organization, the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation, the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development's Trade Committee, and the Pacific Economic Cooperation Council.
