Rough Diamond Trader Registration Circular No. 2/2020

Amendment of Schedule 7 to the
Import and Export (General) Regulations (Cap. 60 sub. leg. A)

Further to the Rough Diamond Trader Registration Circular No. 1/2020 dated 8 May 2020, this circular serves to inform the trade that the legislative process of amendment of Schedule 7 to the Import and Export (General) Regulations (Cap. 60 sub. leg. A) has been completed.

2.With effect from 10 July 2020, "Swaziland" will be deleted from and "Eswatini" will be added to the English text of the list of specified countries or places in Schedule 7. Schedule 7 specifies the countries and places for which the certification scheme for rough diamonds in Hong Kong is effective or as permitted by the Kimberley Process (KP). The updated list is at Annex (pdf format) for information.

3.To facilitate traders to apply for a KP Certificate (Import)/(Export) before shipment, this Department will accept applications for KP Certificate in relation to "Eswatini" from 9 July 2020.
