Commercial Information Circular No. 147/2024

United Kingdom (UK) : Initiation of a tariff rate quota review and a suspension review of the safeguard measure on imports of certain steel products

Further to the Commercial Information Circular No. 613/2023 of 5 September 2023, the UK Government published two notices on 9 February 2024 initiating a tariff rate quota (TRQ) review and a suspension review of the safeguard measure on imports of certain steel products. The reviews concern whether the TRQ in relation to Category 1 steel, i.e. non-alloy and other alloy hot rolled sheets and strips, needs to be revised and whether it is appropriate to suspend the safeguarding remedy on Category 1 steel products. 2.All interested parties may register their interest in the reviews by 25 February 2024 via the Trade Remedies Service at: https://www.trade-remedies.service.gov.uk/. They may request a hearing during the TRQ review process through the Trade Remedies Service.

3.For traders involved in the exports of the subject product from the Guangdong Province, please contact ZHENG Jingmin, Director of Trade Remedy and Industry Injury Investigation Division under the Department of Commerce of Guangdong Province, at 86 20 3881 9797. The Division is responsible for, among others, guiding and coordinating enterprises in Guangdong Province in responding to anti-dumping investigations against products from the province.
