Commercial Information Circular No. 143/2024

European Union (EU)* : Initiation of a review of the definitive safeguard measure applicable to imports of certain steel products

Further to the Commercial Information Circular No. 416/2023 of 27 June 2023, the European Commission published a notice C/2024/1460 on 9 February 2024 initiating a review of the possible extension of the definitive safeguard measure applicable to imports of certain steel products. 2.All interested parties may make their views known, submit information and provide supporting evidence in writing by 26 February 2024. They may request to be heard by the Commission investigation services within 15 days from 9 February 2024. A request for hearing with or intervention of the Hearing Officer, who reports directly to the Commissioner for Trade of the EU, may also be made. Hearing requests should be made in writing, specifying the reasons for the request, within the specified timeframes. The measure in place will lapse on 30 June 2024, unless there is a decision to extend it.

3.For traders involved in the exports of the subject product from the Guangdong Province, please contact ZHENG Jingmin, Director of Trade Remedy and Industry Injury Investigation Division under the Department of Commerce of Guangdong Province, at 86 20 3881 9797. The Division is responsible for, among others, guiding and coordinating enterprises in Guangdong Province in responding to anti-dumping investigations against products from the province.
