European Union (EU)* : Impending expiry of the anti-dumping and countervailing measures on imports of electric bicycles originating in the Mainland of China

Further to the Commercial Information Circular No. 63/2019 of 21 January 2019, the European Commission published two notices 2023/C 154/08 and 2023/C 154/09 on 2 May 2023 concerning the impending expiry of the anti-dumping and countervailing measures on imports of electric bicycles originating in the Mainland of China. 2.The product concerned is cycles, with pedal assistance, with an auxiliary electric motor, currently falling within CN codes 8711 60 10 and ex 8711 60 90 (TARIC code 8711 60 90 10). Unless a review is initiated in accordance with the procedure set out in the notices, the anti-dumping and countervailing measures will expire at midnight of 19 January 2024.

3.Definitive anti-dumping and countervailing duties on imports of the product originating in the Mainland of China have been imposed since 19 January 2019. The current rate of anti-dumping duty is 62.1% of the net, free-at-Union-frontier price, before duty (except for a number of companies with individual duty rates from 10.3% to 70.1%). The current rate of countervailing duty is 17.2% of the net, free-at-Union-frontier price, before duty (except for a number of companies with individual duty rates from 3.9% to 15.1%).
