Basic Law Seminar and Awards Presentation Ceremony

The following is issued on behalf of the Working Group on Industrial, Commercial and Professional Sectors under the Basic Law Promotion Steering Committee:

The Working Group on Industrial, Commercial and Professional Sectors under the Basic Law Promotion Steering Committee (Working Group), the Trade and Industry Department, and the Federation of Hong Kong Industries will jointly organise a seminar on April 28 (Thursday) to enhance understanding of the Basic Law and the awareness of business opportunities brought about by the Basic Law in the industrial, commercial and professional sectors. An awards presentation ceremony for the Basic Law photo competition conducted earlier by the Working Group will also be held on the same day.

Speakers at the seminar include Head of RMB Business Strategy and Planning Department of Hang Seng Bank, Mr Ngan Kim-man, and Chief Executive Officer of Feng Tai Footwear Company Ltd, Mr Eddie Lam. They will share their insights, respectively, on issues concerning offshore development of renminbi in Hong Kong, and the tapping of the Mainland market with Hong Kong as a branding niche.

The seminar will be held at 2.30pm on April 28 in the Lecture Theatre, ground floor, Hong Kong Central Library, 66 Causeway Road, Causeway Bay, Hong Kong (MTR Tin Hau Station, exit B). It will be conducted in Cantonese. Admission is free.

Interested parties are welcome to register with the Working Group Secretariat on or before April 21 (Thursday). Registration forms can be downloaded from the Trade and Industry Department website www.tid.gov.hk/english/aboutus/whatsnew/files/basic_law_seminar.pdf. Please fax the completed registration form to the Secretariat (Fax: 2317 4852). Seats will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.
