Renewal of Registration

Procedures

TTR registrants must renew their registrations in order to continue to be granted exemption from the licensing requirements under sections 6C(1) and 6D(1) of the Import and Export Ordinance for the import and export of textiles falling within the scope of the TTRS. 

About two months before the expiry of their registration, the Department will notify the registered traders by email or by post of the upcoming expiry and the procedures for renewing their registration. Enclosed to the email or letter is an Application for Renewal of Registration as a Textiles Trader (TID 94) and a payment slip. Please refer to the Notes for Payment of Registration Fee for payment method. 

If textiles traders wish to renew their registration, they should complete and return the application, either in person or by registered mail, together with the green copy (or photocopy) of the machine-printed pay-in slip if the payment is made at HSBC, or Part B of the demand note with a franking if the payment is made at the Department's Collection and Form Sales Office, and other necessary documents to the Central Registration Office (CRO). The new validity period will normally commence on the date immediately following the expiry date of the current registration, provided that the renewal application is lodged before the current registration expires. If traders do not receive the letter one month before the expiry of their registration, they should contact the CRO. It is in traders' own interest to make sure that their application for renewal is made well before the expiry of their registration.

On approval, a Certificate of Registration as a Textiles Trader which is valid for one year will be issued and sent to the applicant by registered mail. 

If the Textiles Trader Registration is not renewed before expiry, the registration will become invalid after the end of the validity period. Thereafter, the textiles trader should apply for consignment-specific import/export licences to cover textiles imports from the Mainland and textiles exports to the Mainland or the USA until the registration is sucessfully renewed.
