Notice to Exporters: Series 2 (EU) No. 2/2009

Turkey : Registration Arrangement for Imports of Textiles and Apparel

Turkey has recently announced a new registration arrangement for the imports of textiles and apparel. With effect from 1 February 2009, importers should register and provide the exporters' information prior to import.

DETAILS

2. The Turkish authorities promulgated an Import Communiqué No. 2009/21 dated 31 December 2008 announcing that with effect from 1 February 2009, importers wishing to import textiles and apparel products in Appendix I  of the Communiqué shall register prior to import in each calendar year. The Communiqué is in Turkish only and is available from the Turkish authorities' website at

   http://www.itkib.org.tr/ithalat/dosyalar/2009-21.doc.

3. Among others, the Turkish authorities require its importers to provide exporters' information by attaching duly completed Exporter Registration Form(s) upon application for the first import from individual exporters. The Exporter Registration Form should be approved by the competent authorities (generally chambers of commerce which issue certificates of origin and other documents) in the relevant exporting country/place and submitted for certification by one of the Consulates of the Republic of Turkey. The duly approved and certified Exporter Registration Form should be attached as one of the supporting documents for importers' registration in Turkey.
