Powdered Formula

Export Licensing Requirements

Export for Testing Purpose

Importers of powdered formula may from time to time need to have their powdered formula products tested in or outside Hong Kong so as to ensure that the products are of acceptable quality, are fit for consumption, and/or are in compliance with local food legislation etc.  If the testing is to be conducted outside Hong Kong, the registered importer of the powdered formula may follow the licensing arrangements for General Export Purpose to apply for an Export Licence to send the samples of powdered formula concerned outside Hong Kong.  Laboratory service providers/other agencies engaged by the registered importer of the powdered formula for the testing outside Hong Kong may also apply for Export Licence of Powdered Formula to export the samples of powdered formula for such purpose, provided that they are authorised by the registered importer of the powdered formula.  Each Export Licence application must be supported by an authorisation letter issued by the registered importer concerned.

Laboratory service providers/other agencies can lodge applications for powdered formula export licences electronically via the Trade and Industry Department's (TID's) website and receive the e-application results by email or lodge applications in paper form and obtain the application results at TID in person.
