Rough Diamond Trader Registration Circular No. 2/2022

Amendment of Schedule 7 to the
Import and Export (General) Regulations (Cap. 60 sub. leg. A)

Further to the Rough Diamond Trader Registration Circular No. 1/2022 dated 11 February 2022, this circular serves to inform the trade that the legislative process of amendment of Schedule 7 to the Import and Export (General) Regulations (Cap. 60 sub. leg. A) has been completed. With effect from 8 April 2022, the following countries will be added to the list of specified countries or places in Schedule 7:

The Kyrgyz Republic
The Republic of Mozambique
The State of Qatar

Schedule 7 specifies the countries or places for which the certification scheme for rough diamonds in Hong Kong is effective or is permitted by the Kimberley Process. The updated list is at Annex (pdf format) for information.

2.To facilitate traders to apply for a KP Certificate (Import)/(Export) before shipment, this Department will accept applications for KP Certificate in relation to the above countries from 7 April 2022.
