Rough Diamond Trader Registration Circular No. 1/2022

Proposed Amendment of Schedule 7 to the
Import and Export (General) Regulations (Cap. 60 sub. leg. A)

The Import and Export (General) Regulations (Amendment of Schedule 7) Notice 2022 ("the Notice") is gazetted on 11 February 2022. The Notice seeks to add the following countries to the list of specified countries or places in Schedule 7 to the Import and Export (General) Regulations (Cap. 60 sub. leg. A) with effect from 8 April 2022, subject to the completion of the legislative process :

• The Kyrgyz Republic
• The Republic of Mozambique
• The State of Qatar

Schedule 7 specifies the countries or places for which the certification scheme for rough diamonds in Hong Kong is effective or is permitted by the Kimberley Process.

2.The Department will make further announcement to confirm the implementation date of the above proposed amendment. Meanwhile, the existing list of specified countries or places in Schedule 7 remains in force until further notice.
