Rough Diamond Trader Registration Circular No. 1/2020

Proposed Amendment of Schedule 7 to the Import and Export (General) Regulations (Cap. 60 sub. leg. A)

The Import and Export (General) Regulations (Amendment of Schedule 7) Notice 2020 ("the Notice") is gazetted on 8 May 2020. The Notice seeks to delete "Swaziland" from and add "Eswatini" to the English text of the list of specified countries or places in Schedule 7 to the Import and Export (General) Regulations (Cap. 60 sub. leg. A) with effect from 10 July 2020, subject to the completion of the legislative process. Schedule 7 specifies the countries and places for which the certification scheme for rough diamonds in Hong Kong is effective or as permitted by the Kimberley Process.

2.The Department will make further announcement to confirm the implementation date of the above proposed amendment. Meanwhile, the existing list of specified countries or places in Schedule 7 remains in force until further notice.
