Rough Diamond Trader Registration Circular No. 2/2019

Amendment of Schedule 7 to the
Import and Export (General) Regulations (Cap. 60 sub. leg. A)

Further to the Rough Diamond Trader Registration Circular No. 1/2019 dated 1 February 2019, this circular serves to inform the trade that the legislative process of amendment of Schedule 7 to the Import and Export (General) Regulations (Cap. 60 sub. leg. A) has been completed. The following country will be added to the specified countries or places in Schedule 7 with effect from 18 April 2019 :

Gabon

Schedule 7 specifies the countries or places of which the certification scheme for rough diamonds in Hong Kong is effective or as permitted by the Kimberley Process (KP). The updated list is at Annex (pdf format) for information.

2.To facilitate traders to apply for a KP Certificate (Import)/(Export) before shipment, this Department will accept applications for KP Certificate in relation to the above country from 17 April 2019.
