Rough Diamond Trader Registration Circular No. 1/2019

Proposed Amendment of Schedule 7 to the
Import and Export (General) Regulations (Cap. 60 sub. leg. A)

The Import and Export (General) Regulations (Amendment of Schedule 7) Notice 2019 ("the Notice") is gazetted on 1 February 2019. The Notice seeks to add the following country to the list of specified countries or places in Schedule 7 to the Import and Export (General) Regulations (Cap. 60 sub. leg. A) with effect from 18 April 2019, subject to the completion of the legislative process :

Gabon

Schedule 7 specifies the list of countries or places of which the certification scheme for rough diamonds in Hong Kong is effective or as permitted by the Kimberley Process.

2.The Department will make further announcement to confirm the implementation date of the above proposed amendment. Meanwhile, the existing list of specified countries or places in Schedule 7 remains in force until further notice.
