Egypt : Inspection and Review Certificate Requirement for Imports of Textile Products

According to a recent communication circulated by the World Trade Organization (WTO), Egypt has published a Ministerial Decree mandating the requirement of inspection and review certificate for any imports of textile products, irrespective of country of origin, with effect from 15 June 2012. DETAILS

2. The Egyptian authorities notified the WTO that any imports of apparels, ready made garments and home textiles and textiles used in their production, in addition to dyed and colored yarns, carpets and floor coverings, should be accompanied with an inspection and review certificate issued by an Accreditation Body approved by the International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC) or from an Egyptian or Foreign Government Body approved by the competent Minister of Foreign Trade. The certificate should include information on quantity, value, country of manufacturing, name and address of the manufacturer, its permitted trademarks, name of the importer and test results that prove the compliance with adopted Egyptian standards.
