European Union (EU)* : Addition of New Textile Fibre "Polypropylene/Polyamide Bicomponent" for Labelling and Marking of Fibre Composition of Textile Products
Further to Commercial Information Circular No. 464/2011 cum Notice to Exporters: Series 2 (EU) No. 6/2011 of 2 August 2011, the European Commission has added the new textile fibre polypropylene/polyamide bicomponent to Regulation No. 1007/2011 on textile fibre names and related labelling and marking of the fibre composition of textile products. DETAILS
2.To ensure consumer interests are protected, Regulation (EU) No 1007/2011 (the Regulation) lays down rules governing the labelling or marking of products as regards their textile fibre content and provides uniform methods for quantitative analysis of binary textile fibre mixtures. Textile products may be made available on the market within the EU only if they comply with the provisions of the Regulation. The Regulation as of 27 September 2011 is accessible from the EU website at :

3.For the purposes of adaption to technical progress, the Commission has added the fibre polypropylene/polyamide bicomponent to the lists of textile fibre names and uniform test methods set out respectively in Annexes I, IX and VIII to the Regulation which will apply from 8 May 2012.
