Canada : Withdrawal of Hong Kong's Entitlement under General Preferential Tariff Scheme
As mentioned in Commercial Information Circular No. 822/2013 of 11 October 2013, the Canadian authorities have recently announced the withdrawal of Hong Kong's entitlement to the benefits under General Preferential Tariff (GPT) Scheme with effect from 1 January 2015.
2.In view of the above development, the Trade and Industry Department will cease to accept applications for Certificate of Origin - Form A (Form A) covering exports destined for Canada from 24 December 2014 onwards. Moreover, Form A applications covering consignments destined for Canada and bearing a shipment date on or after 1 January 2015 will not be accepted. Traders using Form A without a certifying body's stamp/signature are also advised to plan your production and shipments accordingly.
