Commercial Information Circular No. 711/2023
European Union (EU)* : Amendment to Regulation on Mercury
Further to the Commercial Information Circular No. 1156/2017 of 15 December 2017, the European Commission published a Delegated Regulation (EU) 2023/2049 on 26 September 2023 to amend Regulation (EU) 2017/852 as regards mercury-added products subject to manufacturing, import and export prohibitions. The Delegated Regulation is available at: https://eur-lex.europa.eu/legal-content/EN/TXT/PDF/?uri=CELEX:32023R2049.
2.In gist, Annex II of the Regulation (EU) 2017/852 is amended to include seven additional mercury-added products, of which their manufacturing, import and export will be prohibited from 31 December 2025. The Delegated Regulation will enter into force on 16 October 2023.
