United Kingdom (UK) : Imposition of a provisional anti-dumping duty on imports of optical fibre cables originating in the Mainland of China
The UK Government published a notice 2023/12 on 10 July 2023 to impose a provisional anti-dumping duty on imports of optical fibre cables originating in the Mainland of China. 2.Salient points of the notice are set out below -
| (a) Product | : | Single mode optical fibre cables, made up of one or more individually sheathed fibres, with protective casing, whether or not containing electric conductors; excluding cables in which all the optical fibres are individually fitted with operational connectors at one or both extremities and plastic insulated cables for submarine use containing a copper or aluminium conductor in which fibres are contained in metal module, currently falling under UK Global Tariff commodity code 8544700010, originating in the Mainland of China |
| (b) Rate of duty | : | 47.2% of estimated anti-dumping amount (except for a number of companies whose individual duty rate is 31.5%) |
| (c) Effective date | : | 11 July 2023 (the provisional remedy will end in six months; or when a definitive remedy is implemented, whichever is sooner) |
| (d) Collection of duty | : | All importers of the goods are required to give a guarantee in respect of the estimated anti-dumping duty during the period of the provisional remedy. |

The Division is responsible for, among others, guiding and coordinating enterprises in Guangdong Province in responding to anti-dumping investigations against products from the province.
