Commercial Information Circular No. 83/2022

European Union (EU)* : Imposition of definitive countervailing duties and amendments to Implementing Regulation imposing a definitive anti-dumping duty on imports of optical fibre cables originating in the Mainland of China

Further to the Commercial Information Circular No. 908/2020 of 22 December 2020 and No. 794/2021 of 19 November 2021, the European Commission published an Implementing Regulation (EU) 2022/72 on 19 January 2022 to impose definitive countervailing duties and amend the Implementing Regulation imposing a definitive anti-dumping duty on imports of optical fibre cables originating in the Mainland of China. 2.Salient points of the regulation are set out below -

(a) Product : Single mode optical fibre cables, made up of one or more individually sheathed fibres, with protective casing, whether or not containing electric conductors, currently falling under CN code ex 8544 70 00 (TARIC code 8544 70 00 10)
Imposition of definitive countervailing duties
(b) Rate of duty : 10.3% of the net, free-at-Union-frontier price before duty (except for a number of companies with individual duty rates from 5.1% to 7.8%)
(c) Effective date : 20 January 2022
Amendments to definitive anti-dumping duties
(d) Amended rate of duty : 33.7% of the net, free-at-Union-frontier price before duty (except for a number of companies with individual duty rates from 14.6% to 23.4%)
(e) Effective date : 20 January 2022

3.For traders involved in the exports of the subject product from the Guangdong Province, please contact GONG Zhihong, Director of Trade Remedy and Industry Injury Investigation Division under the Department of Commerce of Guangdong Province, at 86 20 3881 6201. The Division is responsible for, among others, guiding and coordinating enterprises in Guangdong Province in responding to anti-dumping investigations against products from the province.
