Commercial Information Circular No. 927/2021

European Union (EU)* : Suspension of the Common Customs Tariff duties on certain agricultural and industrial products

Further to the Commercial Information Circular No. 437/2021 of 29 June 2021, the Council of the EU (the Council) has adopted a Regulation (EU) 2021/2278 to suspend the Common Customs Tariff (CCT) duties on certain agricultural and industrial products and repeal Regulation (EU) 1387/2013.

2.The suspension of CCT duties applies to products of which the production in the EU is currently either inadequate to meet the specific requirements of the user industries in the EU or non-existent. Those products can be imported into the EU at reduced or zero duty rates. For customs declaration for release for free circulation, the exact quantity of the products for which supplementary units have been provided in the Annex shall be entered.

3.Details of the suspension including CN and TARIC codes, product descriptions, rates of autonomous duty, supplementary units and dates envisaged for mandatory review are set out in the Annex of Regulation (EU) 2021/2278 which shall apply from 1 January 2022 and is available at: https://eur-lex.europa.eu/legal-content/EN/TXT/PDF/?uri=CELEX:32021R2278&from=EN.
