Commercial Information Circular No. 788/2020

European Union (EU)* : Imposition of provisional anti-dumping duty on imports of aluminium extrusions originating in the Mainland of China

Further to the Commercial Information Circular 671/2020 of 2 September 2020, the European Commission published an Implementing Regulation (EU) 2020/1428 on 13 October 2020 to impose a provisional anti-dumping duty on imports of aluminium extrusions originating in the Mainland of China. 2.Salient points of the regulations are set out below -

(a) Product : Bars, rods, profiles (whether or not hollow), tubes, pipes; unassembled; whether or not prepared for use in structures (e.g. cut-to-length, drilled, bent, chamfered, threaded) ; made from aluminium, whether or not alloyed, containing not more than 99.3% of aluminium, currently falling under CN codes ex 7604 10 10, ex 7604 10 90, 7604 21 00, 7604 29 10, 7604 29 90, ex 7608 10 00, 7608 20 81, 7608 20 89 and ex 7610 90 90 (TARIC codes 7604 10 10 11, 7604 10 90 11, 7604 10 90 25, 7604 10 90 80, 7608 10 00 11, 7608 10 00 80 and 7610 90 90 10).
(b) Rate of duty : 48.0% of the net, free-at-Union-frontier price before duty (except for a number of companies with individual duty rates from 30.4% to 38.2%).
(c) Effective date : 14 October 2020 (the duty will apply for six months).
(d) Collection of duty : The release for free circulation in the EU of the product shall be subject to the provision of a security deposit equivalent to the amount of the provisional duty.
