Commercial Information Circular No. 749/2020

European Union (EU)* : Imposition of a definitive anti-dumping duty and definitively collecting the provisional duty on imports of certain hot rolled stainless steel sheets and coils originating in, inter alia, the Mainland of China

Further to the Commercial Information Circular 362/2020 of 29 April 2020, the European Commission published an Implementing Regulation (EU) 2020/1408 on 7 October 2020 to impose a definitive anti-dumping duty and definitively collect the provisional duty on imports of certain hot rolled stainless steel sheets and coils originating in, inter alia, the Mainland of China. The Implementing Regulation is available at:

2.Salient points of the regulations are set out below -

(a) Product : Flat-rolled products of stainless steel, whether or not in coils (including products cut-to-length and narrow strip), not further worked than hot-rolled and excluding products, not in coils, of a width of 600 mm or more and of a thickness exceeding 10 mm, currently falling under HS codes 7219 11, 7219 12, 7219 13, 7219 14, 7219 22, 7219 23, 7219 24, 7220 11 and 7220 12.
(b) Rate of Duty : 19.0% of the net, free-at-Union-frontier price before duty (except for a number of companies with individual duty rates from 9.2% to 19.0%)
(c) Effective Date : 8 October 2020
(d) Duration : 5 years
(e) Collection of duty : The amounts secured by way of the provisional anti-dumping duty under Implementing Regulation (EU) 2020/508 shall be definitively collected. The amounts secured in excess of the definitive rates of the anti-dumping duty shall be released.
