Commercial Information Circular No. 870/2019

European Union (EU)* : Amendments to Directive on the Safety of Toys

Further to Commercial Information Circular No. 502/2018 dated 24 May 2018, the European Commission has adopted two Directives to amend point 13 of part III of and Appendix C to Annex II to Directive 2009/48/EC on the safety of toys.

2.The Directives revise the migration limits for aluminium from toys or components of toys, and set the recommended limits for formaldehyde in different toy materials. Details are set out in the Commission Directive (EU) 2019/1922 and 2019/1929, which can be accessed through the following links:
