Commercial Information Circular No. 912/2016

European Union (EU)* : Amendment to Regulation on the Characteristics of Olive Oil and Olive-residue Oil and on the Relevant Methods of Analysis

Further to Commercial Information Circular No. 203/02 dated 12 October 2002, the European Commission has adopted a Regulation to adjust the limit values for fatty acid ethyl ester, heptadecanoic, heptadecenoic, eicosenoic acids and the specific extinction coefficient at wavelength 270 nm laid down in Annex I to Regulation (EEC) No. 2568/91 in order to ensure the implementation at Union level of the most recent international standards established by the International Olive Council (IOC). In addition, the presentation of purity and quality parameters of the IOC standard is reflected in the above Annex for the sake of consistency.
