Commercial Information Circular No. 549/2016

European Union (EU)* : Tariff quotas for certain agricultural and industrial products

Further to Commercial Information Circular No. 83/2016 of 18 January 2016, the Council of the EU has adopted a regulation to amend the list of agricultural and industrial products eligible for the EU's autonomous tariff quotas. The amending regulation is available at:

DETAILS

2.Tariff quotas allow EU industries to acquire agricultural and industrial products of which production is insufficient in the EU. Products eligible for autonomous tariff quotas can be imported into the EU at reduced or zero tariff rate up to the quota volume within a specified period of time. The normal tariff rate will resume when imports reach the quota volume or upon expiry of the quota period. Details of the amendments and the related quotas are set out in the amending regulation and its annex and shall apply from 1 July 2016.
