Dear Sirs,

Commercial Information Circular No.763/2014

European Union (EU) * : Repeal of the Anti-dumping Measures on Imports of Powdered Activated Carbon Originating in the Mainland of China

Further to Commercial Information Circular No. 548/2013 of 8 July 2013, the European Commission (the Commission) has published an implementing regulation to repeal the anti-dumping measures on imports of powdered activated carbon originating in the Mainland of China and terminate the proceeding concerning these imports. The implementing regulation can be accessed through the following link: http://eur-lex.europa.eu/legal-content/EN/TXT/PDF/?uri=OJ:JOL_2014_244_R_0006&from=EN.

DETAILS

2.On 6 July 2013, the Commission initiated an expiry review on the anti-dumping measures imposed on imports of powdered activated carbon originating in the Mainland of China at the request lodged by Cabot Norit Nederland BV and Cabot Norit (UK) Ltd (the applicants) on behalf of producers representing more than 25% of the total Union production of powdered activated carbon.

3.By a letter dated 7 May 2014 addressed to the Commission, the applicants formally withdrew their request for an expiry review. As the investigation has not brought to light any considerations showing that termination of the proceeding would be against the Union interest, and having given interested parties the opportunity to submit comments, the Commission has adopted the implementing regulation to the effect that the anti-dumping duty imposed on imports of powdered activated carbon currently falling within CN code ex 3802 10 00 (TARIC code 3802 10 00 20) originating in the Mainland of China would be repealed and the relevant proceeding be terminated with effect from 20 August 2014.
