European Union (EU)* : Amendment to Directive on the Safety of Toys

Further to Commercial Information Circular No. 585/2013 dated 23 July 2013, the European Commission (the Commission) has adopted a Directive to amend Appendix C of Annex II of Directive 2009/48/EC on the safety of toys concerning tris(2-chloroethyl) phosphate (TCEP), tris(2-chloro-1-methylethyl) phosphate (TCPP) and tris[2-chloro-1-(chloromethyl) ethyl] phosphate (TDCP). DETAILS

2.With the opinions from the Scientific Committee on Health and Environmental Risks (SCHER) and to further protect children's health, specific limit values for TCEP, TCPP and TDCP are set out for toys intended for use by children under three years old or other toys intended to be placed in the mouth. Therefore, Directive 2009/48/EC on the safety of toys should be amended accordingly.
