European Union (EU) * : Regulation on the Addition of Vitamins and Minerals and of Certain Other Substances to Foods

Further to Commercial Information Circular No. 282/2012 of 18 April 2012, the European Commission (the Commission) has adopted a Regulation to amend Directive 2002/46/EC and Regulation (EC) No 1925/2006 concerning chromium-enriched yeast used for the manufacture of food supplements and chromium (III) lactate tri-hydrate added to foods. DETAILS

2.Directive 2002/46/EC and Regulation (EC) No 1925/2006 establish the lists of vitamin and mineral substances which may be added to foods and used for the manufacture of food supplements. Taking into account of the scientific opinions regarding the use of chromium-enriched yeasts in food supplements and the addition of chromium (III) lactate tri-hydrate to foods adopted by the European Food Safety Authority, Directive 2002/46/EC and Regulation (EC) No 1925/2006 should therefore be amended accordingly.
