European Union (EU) * : Ban on Novelty Lighters and Lighters without Child-resistant Device

Further to Commercial Information Circular No. 211/2013 of 11 March 2013, the European Commission has adopted a Decision to prolong the ban of novelty lighters and lighters without child-resistant device. DETAILS

2.The ban on the sales of novelty lighters and lighters without child-resistant device was first introduced in May 2006. Producers are requested to keep and provide on request a report of child-resistance test for the model of lighters placed on the market. Refillable lighters for which the producers can provide documentation ensuring a continual expected safe use over a lifetime of at least five years are exempted. The current Decision prolongs the validity of the ban to last until 11 May 2015.
