European Union (EU)* : Ecodesign Requirements for Ventilation Units

Further to Commercial Information Circular No. 560/2009 of 6 November 2009, the European Commission has adopted a Regulation specifying the ecodesign requirements for ventilation units.  Details are set out in Commission Regulation (EU) No 1253/2014 (the Regulation), which can be accessed through the following link:

DETAILS

2.The Regulation establishes the ecodesign requirements for ventilation units that are placing on the market or putting into service.  However, it shall not apply to the products listed in Article 1(2) of the Regulation.

3.Details of the ecodesign requirements for residential ventilation unit (RVU) and non-residential ventilation unit (NRVU) with respective application dates are set out in Annexes II and III of the Regulation.  Information requirements for RVUs and NRVUs are set out in Annexes IV and V whereas verification procedure for market surveillance purposes are set out in Annex VI.  The benchmarks for residential ventilation units and non-residential ventilation units can be found in Annex VII of the Regulation.  Calculation of the specific energy consumption requirements for RVUs are set out in Annex VIII and the measurements and calculations for the specific ecodesign requirements are set out in Annex IX of the Regulation.
