Commercial Information Circular No. 944/2012

European Union (EU)* : Amendments to Regulation on Food Additives

Further to Commercial Information Circular No. 933/2012 dated 14 November 2012, the European Commission (the Commission) has adopted a Regulation to amend Annex II of Regulation (EC) No 1333/2008 concerning the use of dimethyl polysiloxane (E 900) as an anti-foaming agent in food supplements. DETAILS

2.Annex II of Regulation (EC) No 1333/2008 lays down a Union list of food additives approved for use in foods and their conditions of use. According to the transitional provisions of Commission Regulation (EU) No 1129/2011, the list of food additives should apply from 1 June 2013. In order to allow the use of dimethyl polysiloxane (E 900) in food supplements before that date, Annex II of Regulation (EC) No 1333/2008 should be amended with an earlier date of application specified as 3 December 2012.
