Commercial Information Circular No. 831/2012
European Union (EU)* : Ecodesign Requirements for Household Tumble Driers

Further to Commercial Information Circular No. 560/2009 of 6 November 2009, the European Commission (the Commission) has adopted a Regulation specifying the ecodesign requirements for household tumble driers. DETAILS

2.The Regulation establishes the ecodesign requirements for electric mains-operated and gas-fired household tumble driers and built-in household tumble driers, including those sold for non-household use. However, it shall not apply to household combined washer-driers and household spin-extractors.

3.There are four Annexes under the Regulation and their respective content is as follows:

  1. Annex I - Ecodesign requirements for household tumble driers;
     
  2. Annex II - Measurements and calculations requirements;
     
  3. Annex III - Verification procedures for market surveillance purposes; and
     
  4. Annex IV - Indicative benchmarks for best-performing household tumble driers

4.The Regulation shall apply from 1 November 2013, except that the generic ecodesign requirements set out in points 1.1 and 1.2 of Annex I and the specific ecodesign requirements set out in point 2.2 of Annex I shall apply from 1 November 2014 and 1 November 2015 respectively.
