European Union (EU)* : Results of an Expiry Review of the Anti-dumping Measures on Imports of Lever Arch Mechanisms Originating in the Mainland of China

Further to the Commercial Information Circular No. 438/2011 of 25 July 2011, the Council of the EU has published a regulation to maintain the definitive anti-dumping duty imposed on imports of lever arch mechanisms originating in the Mainland of China following an expiry review. DETAILS

2.Salient points are set out below -

(a) Product : Lever arch mechanisms generally used for archiving sheets and other documents in binders or files, consist of arched sturdy metal elements (normally two) on a back plate and having at least one opening trigger that permits inserting and filing of sheets and other documents, currently falling within CN code ex 8305 10 00 (TARIC code 8305 10 00 50).
(b) Rate of Duty : 47.4% of the net, free-at-Union-frontier price before duty (except for one company whose individual duty rate is 27.1%).
(c) Effective Date : 5 September 2012
(d) Duration : 5 years

BACKGROUND

3.Definitive anti-dumping duty on imports of lever arch mechanisms originating in the Mainland of China has been imposed since 28 July 2006 for five years with duty rate in force as 47.4% of the net, free-at-Union-frontier price before duty (except for one company whose individual duty is 27.1%).

4.The European Commission initiated an expiry review on 23 July 2011. As a result of the review, the definitive anti-dumping duty is maintained for a further five years with effect from 5 September 2012.
