Dear Sirs,

Commercial Information Circular No. 496/2012

European Union (EU)* : Termination of the Anti-dumping Proceeding on Imports of Certain Concentrated Soy Protein Products Originating in the Mainland of China

Further to the Commercial Information Circular No. 235/2011 of 19 April 2011 and No. 402/2011 of 7 July 2011, the European Commission ('the Commission') has published a decision to terminate the anti-dumping proceeding concerning imports of certain concentrated soy protein products originating in the Mainland of China. The decision can be accessed through the following link :
http://eur-lex.europa.eu/LexUriServ/LexUriServ.do?uri=OJ:L:2012:168:0038:0054:EN:PDF.

DETAILS

2.The Commission announced by a notice published on 19 April 2011 the initiation of an anti-dumping proceeding with regard to imports of certain concentrated soy protein products originating in the Mainland of China as a result of a complaint lodged by Solae Europe S.A. containing evidence of dumping and resulting material injury, which was considered sufficient to justify the initiation of a proceeding.

3. In the course of the proceeding, however, it is definitively concluded that any injury suffered by the Union industry is not characterised as material. Besides, other factors, in particular the contraction in demand and the volatile character of the main raw material market, were considered important causes of any injury to the Union industry. In view of the conclusions reached, and having considered comments made by the concerned parties, the Commission has adopted the decision to terminate the anti-dumping proceeding concerning imports of certain concentrated soy protein products originating in the Mainland of China.

4. The decision shall enter into force on 29 June 2012.
