European Union (EU)* : Regulation on the Addition of Vitamins and Minerals and of Certain Other Substances to Foods

Further to Commercial Information Circular No. 40/2007 of 15 January 2007, the European Commission (the Commission) has adopted a Regulation establishing the implementing rules for the application of Regulation (EC) No. 1925/2006 on the addition of vitamins and minerals and of certain other substances to foods. DETAILS

2.Under Article 8 of the Regulation No 1925/2006, to initiate the procedure to prohibit, restrict or place under Union scrutiny a substance other than vitamins or minerals, or an ingredient containing a substance other than vitamins or minerals that is added to foods or used in the manufacture of foods, certain conditions should be met and uniform rules should be established for checking that these conditions are met. In order to set out the implementing rules for the application of Regulation No. 1925/2006, the Regulation No. 307/2012 was established with details stated in its Articles 1-6. The Regulation shall enter into force on 2 May 2012.
