Dear Sirs,

Commercial Information Circular No. 1080/2012

European Union (EU)* : Temporary Tariff Suspension for Certain Agricultural, Fishery and Industrial Products

Further to the Commercial Information Circular No. 491/2012 of 27 June 2012, the Council of the EU has adopted a regulation amending the list of agricultural, fishery and industrial products of which import tariffs will be partially or totally suspended. The regulation can be accessed through the following link:
http://eur-lex.europa.eu/LexUriServ/LexUriServ.do?uri=OJ:L:2012:350:0008:0035:EN:PDF

DETAILS

2.Temporary tariff suspension applies to products of which production is inadequate or non-existent in the Union. Products for which tariff duties are temporarily suspended can be imported into the Union at reduced or zero rate.

3.The Council has amended the tariff suspension in relation to a number of products because of the prevailing interest of the Union. Descriptions of some products are modified in order to take account of technical product developments and economic trends on the market, among other changes. It is also considered in the interest of the Union to provide for a new mandatory review for a number of products reviewed by the European Commission. Details of the amendments are set out in the regulation and its annexes. The regulation shall apply from 1 January 2013.
