European Union (EU)* : Safety requirements for bicycles, bicycles for young children and luggage carriers for bicycles

The European Commission (the Commission) has adopted a Decision setting out the safety requirements to be met by European standards for bicycles, bicycles for young children and luggage carriers for bicycles. DETAILS

2. In order to assess the conformity of the new versions and of any subsequent versions of the European standards with the general safety requirement of Directive 2001/95/EC, the Commission has set out the specific safety requirements for bicycles, bicycles for young children and luggage carriers for bicycles with a view to mandating the European standardization bodies to develop relevant European standards on the basis of those requirements. 
 

3. The specific safety requirements for bicycles, bicycles for young children and luggage carriers for bicycles are set out in the Annex of the Decision. The Decision shall enter into force on 22 December 2011.
