European Union (EU)* : Results of an Expiry Review of the Anti-dumping Measures on Imports of Barium Carbonate Originating in the Mainland of China

Further to the Commercial Information Circular No. 327/2010 of 16 July 2010, the Council of the EU has published a regulation announcing the decision to maintain the definitive anti-dumping duty imposed on imports of barium carbonate originating in the Mainland of China consequent to an expiry review. 2. Salient points are set out below -

BACKGROUND

3. Definitive anti-dumping duty on imports of barium carbonate originating in the Mainland of China has been imposed since 22 July 2005 at a rate of EUR 56.4 per tonne (except for two companies whose individual duty rates are EUR 6.3 per tonne and EUR 8.1 per tonne).

4. At the request of Solvay & CPC Barium Strontium GmbH & Co. KG, the sole producer of barium carbonate in the EU, the Commission initiated the expiry review on 16 July 2010. As a result of the review, the definitive anti-dumping duty on barium carbonate originating in the Mainland of China has been maintained with effect from 20 August 2011 for another five years.
