Commercial Information Circular No. 572/2010

European Union (EU)* : Capacity Labelling of Portable Secondary (Rechargeable) and Automotive Batteries and Accumulators

Further to Commercial Information Circulars No. 438/2009 of 26 August 2009, the European Commission (the Commission) has adopted a Regulation regarding the capacity labelling of portable secondary (rechargeable) and automotive batteries and accumulators. DETAILS

  1. Under the Regulation, the capacity of the battery or the accumulator is measured by the electric charge that a battery or accumulator can deliver under a specific set of conditions. Details on the capacity measurement are list out in Annex II of the Regulation. This capacity information of portable secondary (rechargeable) and automotive batteries and accumulators has to be marked in a label of the batteries and accumulators. Details of the information required for the label, as well as the minimum size and location of the label can be found in Annex III and Annex IV of the Regulation respectively.
