Dear Sirs,

Commercial Information Circular No. 327/2010

European Union (EU)* : Initiation of an Expiry Review of the Anti-dumping Measures on Imports of Barium Carbonate Originating in the Mainland of China

Further to the Commercial Information Circular No. 138/2010 of 29 March 2010, the European Commission (the Commission) has published a notice to initiate an expiry review of the anti-dumping measures imposed on imports of barium carbonate originating in the Mainland of China. The notice can be accessed through the following link : http://eur-lex.europa.eu/LexUriServ/LexUriServ.do?uri=OJ:C:2010:192:0004:0008:EN:PDF.

DETAILS

Ground for the Review

  1. The expiry review is initiated at the request of Solvay & CPC Barium Strontium GmbH & Co. KG, the sole producer of barium carbonate in the European Union, representing 100 % of the total Union production. The request is based on the grounds that the expiry of the measures would be likely to result in continuation of dumping and continuation of injury to the Union industry.

Review Procedures

  1. Salient points of the expiry review are set out below-

BACKGROUND

  1. Definitive anti-dumping duty on imports of barium carbonate originating in the Mainland of China has been imposed since 22 July 2005 at a rate of EUR 56.4 per tonne (except for two companies whose individual duty rates are EUR 6.3 per tonne and EUR 8.1 per tonne).
