BACKGROUND
-
The Commission received a complaint lodged in June 2010 by Option NV ('the complainant'), the sole producer of wireless wide area networking (WWAN) modems in the EU alleging that imports of the product concerned originating in the Mainland of China are being dumped, thereby causing material injury to the Union industry. On 30 June 2010, the Commission initiated an anti-dumping investigation concerning imports of the product concerned originating in the Mainland of China. The investigation will be concluded within 15 months from 30 June 2010 (for details, please refer to Commercial Information Circular No.307/2010).
-
The complainant also requested that imports of the product concerned be made subject to registration. The Commission considered that the request contains sufficient evidence, as well as further supported by evidence from other sources, to justify the registration. The Commission therefore decided to register the imports of the product concerned to ensure that, should the investigation result in findings leading to the imposition of anti-dumping duties, those duties can, if necessary conditions are fulfilled, be levied retroactively.
