Commercial Information Circular No. 40/2006

European Union (EU)* : Imposition of a Definitive Anti-dumping Duty on Imports of Tartaric Acid Originating in the Mainland of China

Further to Commercial Information Circular No. 288/2005 of 2 August 2005, the Council of the EU has published a regulation to impose a definitive anti-dumping duty on imports of tartaric acid originating in the mainland of China. A copy of the regulation is at Attachment (pdf format) for reference. Salient points are set out below-

(a) Product : Tartaric acid, falling within CN code 2918 12 00.
(b) Rate of Duty : 34.9% of the net, free-at-Community-frontier price before duty (except for three companies with individual duty ranging from 0% to 10.1%).
(c) Effective Date :  28 January 2006
(d) Duration : Five years
(e) Collection of Provisional Duty : Amounts secured by way of the provisional anti-dumping duty imposed since 30 July 2005 will be definitively collected at the rate of the definitive anti-dumping duty. Any amount secured in excess of the definitive duty rate will be released.
