Commercial Information Circular No. 388/2006

European Union (EU)* : Imposition of a Definitive Anti-dumping Duty on Imports of Certain Plastic Sacks and Bags Originating in, inter alia, the Mainland of China

Further to Commercial Information Circular No. 232/2005 of 30 June 2005, the Council of the EU has published a regulation to impose a definitive anti-dumping duty on imports of certain plastic sacks and bags originating in, inter alia, the Mainland of China. A copy of the regulation is atAnnex (pdf format) for reference. Salient points are set out below -

(a) Product : Plastic sacks and bags, containing at least 20% by weight of polyethylene and of a thickness not exceeding 100 micrometers, falling within CN codes ex 3923 21 00, ex 3923 29 10 and ex 3923 29 90 (TARIC codes 3923 21 00 20, 3923 29 10 20 and 3923 29 90 20).
(b) Rate of Duty : 28.8% of the net, free-at-Community-frontier price before duty (except for those companies listed in Article 1 of the regulation where the individual duty rates range from 4.8% to 12.8%).
(c) Effective Date : 30 September 2006
(d) Duration : Five years
