European Union (EU)* : Temporary Emergency Measures on Non-manufactured Coniferous Wood Packing Originating in Canada, China, Japan and the United States
Further to Commercial Information Circular No. 145/2001 of 19 September 2001, the European Commission (EC) has made available a document "Temporary EU Emergency Measures on Wood Packing : Questions and Answers" on the EC's web-site http://europa.eu.int/comm/food/fs/ph_ps/harm/quest-answ_woodpack_en.pdf. The document provides answers to some frequently asked questions concerning the EC's emergency measures on non-manufactured coniferous wood packing originating in Canada, China, Japan and the United States applied since 1 October 2001. Details covered include the types of wood subject to the emergency measures, samples of the marking required for indication of compliance, clarifications on the phytosanitary certificates required for wood packing originating in China, and list of official competent bodies in the Member States and in the relevant originating countries. Traders may visit the EC's web-site for the relevant details.
