Commercial Information Circular No. 26/99

European Union (EU) : Imposition of Provisional Anti-dumping
Duty on Imports of Steel Ropes and Cables Originating in the Mainland of China

 

Further to Commercial Information Circular No. 79/98 of 3 June 1998, the European Commission has published a regulation in the Official Journal of the European Communities to impose a provisional anti-dumping duty on imports of steel ropes and cables originating in the mainland of China. A copy of the regulation is appended to this circular for reference. Details are as follows :

(a) Product : Steel ropes and cables, including locked coil ropes, excluding ropes and cables of stainless steel, with a maximum cross-sectional dimension exceeding 3mm, with fittings attached or not, classifiable within CN codes ex 7312 1082, ex 7312 1084, ex 7312 1086, ex 7312 1088 and ex 7312 1099.
(b) Rate of Duty : 74.8% of the net free-at-Community-frontier price, before duty.
(c) Effective Date : 19 February 1999 (for 6 months)
(d) Collection of Duty: The release of the product for free circulation in the Community shall be subject to the provision of a security equivalent to the amount of the provisional duty.
(e) Time Limit for Comments: Interested parties may make their views known in writing and apply to be heard orally by the Commission within one month from 19 February 1999. Parties which have made themselves known within the time limit specified in the notice of initiation concerned may comment on the application of this regulation within one month from 19 February 1999.
