Commercial Information Circular No. 128/99
European Union (EU) : Imposition of a Definitive Anti-dumping Duty on Imports of Steel Ropes and Cables Originating in the Mainland of China
Further to Commercial Information Circular No. 26/99 of 1 March 1999, the Department has received information that the Council of the EU has published a regulation in the Official Journal of the European Communities to impose a definitive anti-dumping duty on imports of steel rope and cables originating in, among others, the mainland of China. A copy of the regulation is appended to this circular for reference. Details are as follows :
| (a) | Product | : | Steel ropes and cables, classifiable within CN codes ex 7312 1082, ex 7312 1084, ex 7312 1086, ex 7312 1088 and ex 7312 1099. |
| (b) | Rate of duty | : | 60.4% of the cif net free-at-Community-frontier price, before duty. |
| (c) | Effective Date | : | 18 August 1999 |
| (d) | Collection of Duty | : | The amounts secured by way of the provisional anti-dumping duty imposed since 19 February 1999 will be collected at the level of the duties definitively imposed. Amounts secured by way of the provisional anti-dumping duty which exceed the definitive anti-dumping level will be released. |
