28 December 2010

Dear Sirs,

Commercial Information Circular No. 613/2010

The Mainland of China : Final Ruling on Anti-dumping Investigation Against Imports of Methanol from Indonesia, Malaysia and New Zealand

The Ministry of Commerce (MOC) issued Notice No. 91/2010 on 23 December 2010, announcing the final ruling on anti-dumping investigation against imports of methanol from Indonesia, Malaysia and New Zealand. The relevant tariff code is 2905 1100.

DETAILS

  1. The final ruling confirmed the existence of dumping regarding imports of methanol from Indonesia, Malaysia and New Zealand, and that such dumping had caused material injury to the domestic industry. As a result, the Mainland had decided to impose anti-dumping duties which range from 8.9% to 37.5% on imports of methanol from the above regions. The anti-dumping measure would be in place for 5 years from 24 December 2010. However, due to the special situation, the Ministry of Commerce decided to suspend the implementation of anti-dumping measure on imports of the investigated products. The implementation period will be announced subject to the situation. For details, please make reference to the notice issued by the MOC at: http://www.mofcom.gov.cn/aarticle/b/c/201012/20101207326177.html (Chinese version only).

  2. For details of the initiation of the anti-dumping investigation and the preliminary finding of the case, please refer to our CIC No. 333/2009 dated 30 June 2009 and CIC No. 485/2010 dated 27 October 2010 respectively.
