Singapore: New Import Requirements for Import of Salted and Preserved Eggs
This circular is to inform traders that the Agri-Food & Veterinary Authority of Singapore (AVA) will impose new requirements for import of salted and preserved eggs with effect from 13 July 2007, in view of the risk of Sudan red and other prohibited colouring dyes in the products.
DETAILS
- The Food and Environmental Hygiene Department (FEHD) has received a communication from AVA informing Hong Kong of the new requirements for import of salted and preserved eggs into Singapore. Details are set out in the following paragraphs.
- Effective from 13 July 2007, import of salted and preserved eggs into Singapore from any country/territory will only be allowed from AVA approved establishments. Companies wishing to obtain AVA approved establishment status should apply to AVA:

- details on the processing flow;
- photos of the manufacturing process;
- photo of the manufacturing establishment;
- brochures or photos of the products to be exported to Singapore.
- Besides, every consignment of salted and preserved eggs imported into Singapore will have to be accompanied with a health certificate certifying the meeting of certain conditions laid down by AVA. The health certificate will be issued by FEHD for Hong Kong produced products, subject to its meeting the AVA health certificate conditions as well as other conditions laid down by FEHD governing the issuance of health certificates.
- According to AVA, the following information should also be indicated on the carton label of the products:
- Health certificate number;
- Product description;
- Country of origin;
- Quantity (in pieces) and weight;
- Processing plant number; and
- Processing date and batch number (if any).
