Commercial Information Circular No. 413/2005

The Mainland of China : Implementation Details on the Supervision and Administration of Quality and Safety for Food Production and Processing Enterprises (Trial)

The General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine (AQSIQ) promulgated the "Implementation Details on the Supervision and Administration of Quality and Safety for Food Production and Processing Enterprises (Trial)" on 1 September 2005, which took effect from the same day.

  1. According to the Implementation Details, the Mainland implements a market access system on food quality and safety. Under the system, food production and processing enterprises must possess the production conditions to ensure the quality and safety of food, and must obtain the production permits for industrial products in accordance with the relevant procedures. All food products must pass the inspection process and be stamped with a "food quality and safety mark" before they are sold.
